Yes, you can. You just go out the way you came in; the slope is too steep to climb up, but you'll have no trouble getting down. The entrance is in the southwest corner of the garden. (Although you're probably better off going NORTH, then west along the north row of the gardens rather than trying to take the most direct route.)
Rule of thumb for all these games: Make a map as you go. It helps. Big time.
