The garden is in the southwestern corner of the land. Go south over the bridges and then turn west somewhere. If that road takes you to the forest, go back east and then further south. But you need some silver to get into the garden, and if I remember right you should search the area somewhere near the river for it.
I recommend you to search all the places you can and look everywhere, because there are many (gold) coins for you to find. You should also try all the options you can because the game won't let you do anything that won't let you win, and if you die you can always undo the last move.
