Murkon takes far more damage than any other monster in the game - not suprising, considering he is the final boss. But I'd say that it takes two or three times longer to kill Murkon than to kill the character that you got that item that you mentioned from.

Use it and find out. If you're referring to the item that I *think* you're referring to, then getting it again will get you a lot of experience, anyways.
