Not even close -- sorry. My last party had an assassin who regularly did damage of 4000, and was occasionally up over 5000. I think someone else was usually up over 7000 damage with an assassin.

If you get the extra-special assassin items, plus a good weapon, and the character stays down in the dungeon long enough, he or she can be really fun to watch.
