Can I kill the wraith with the Larosis guard's sword. I can cut him but he always puts himself back together again. If the sword is correct what am I doing wrong?

I have:
Diving Mask
Ticket
Stone of Strengthening
Rope
Broken Free Trial Sword of Failing
Key of Questioning
Food Rations
Key of Opening
Magic Armor of Magic
Life Preserver
Dead Fish
Piece of Trash
Pick
Guard's Sword
Bucket
Crate
