The company I work for just moved to the big city, and our new offices feature all sorts of technical "conveniences" which the old offices (out in the country) didn't have. One of these new features is the sanitary automatic faucets. Let me tell you, it has been years since I actually had to concentrate when I washed my hands. When I wash at work, I am generally peering into the mirror at some pore or strand of hair, or observing the level of general verve and enthusiasm in my eye for that particular morning, whilst my hands patter, well beyond the realm of my brain, for the faucet knob somewhere below the mirror. It often takes several moments before, in frustration, I look down and remember I have but to put my hands under the spout for the water to come out. Conversely, in other bathrooms I often find myself in a similar situation, except my hands are, this time, hovering patiently under the spout, as though by majic it will give way to me.
