The stone head is needed at the VERY END of the game. Hang on to it.

As for the Sphinx combination lock: you opened the case in the library and read the book in it, correct? The one with the poem about the Sphinx? Go back and read EVERYTHING from that book. The 4-digit code is literally handed to you.

Oh, and you might want to post your inventory again. With the influx of FQ2 posts, I can't remember where you are in Brackly Hall.
