Is it just whirring, or did you hear a big boom?

If it's whirring, you need to put the cogwheel on.

If you heard a big boom... remember the game told you it came from DOWNSTAIRS? Go downstairs and search all the rooms - you'll know when you've found what you're looking for.

Oh, and could you PLEASE post your inventory next time you ask for help? You keep asking vague or badly written questions, and it helps if we know where you are in the game.
