FANTASY QUEST-Can't open the cell doors

I can't open the cell doors for the old man, princess, or zombie. I can hit the locks, with my shovel, club, and sword, but that doesn't really help. I've made a map of the fortress, and it seems I've got every room fully explored, so I'm really tired of it all.
