You shouldn't be having *that* much trouble finding the miner, unless you haven't figured out the trick with the mine cart. The miner is in the sandstone caverns. Have you found them? If not, go southeast in a mine cart from the main junction, and see if you can't make something happen. If you've found the sandstone caverns, I'll give you a hint: he's on the black level.

Oh, and are you *sure* you've done *everything* in Kepler's room? Because if you have, you should have something on your inventory that I don't see.
