Murkon's Refuge (MR) level 10

It seems impossible to get to level 10. There are no downward staircases on level 9, and there are no elevators that go that deep. I just got the half amulet from the leviathin-do I have to fight him again to get the other half? Or do I get the other half from the grim reaper? And also nevermind about my previous equipment post-I decided to go for speed.
