I believe the sorcerer is past the orc. You may have to go off the beaten path; try ALL your options. (And examine your surroundings carefully.)
As for the guardian: bribery works. You need to get something in the white tower first, which the sorcerer will indirectly help you do. Don't worry about him just yet.
