GOA-secret area (NOT asking where it it or how to get there)

I just wanted to know if the secret area in GOA helps you at all in the game? Or is the only thing you get from it the satisfaction of knowing you found it, as well as the bragging rights? I guess what I'm trying to ask is: Is it worth looking for?
