Well, you can probably guess what I'm going to suggest before I even mention it. ;-) I'm not sure how much you like riding (I know nobody here likes it as much as I do), but is it enough to perhaps take lessons somewhere? This is a great way to get to know people. It's about the only reason I know more people IRL other than Sam (well, that and the model horse friends). Try to stear away from the barns that gear towards kiddies. Heck, you could just go for a trek or 2... you'd at least get to know a tour guide, or perhaps they would group you with another group going for a ride. It costs money, but perhaps you can find a place that will let you help out in exchange for a lesson/trek?
