There is equipment out there that is for one class only but isn't that "item of specialness". Like thief sneakers. Here's how you find out if it is an item or not. If it has the name of a class in it (ex. assassin, rogue...), it's an item of specialness. If it doesn't, then it's not. Take for example a rogue. One of their items of specialness is a rogue's cowl. Thief sneakers are for rogues only, but they aren't one of those items.
