You never really find out what is under that couch. You say that you're trapped in the north castle. Do you have a gold coin? Make sure that you have one before you leave. It might even be better to have the dollar bill. The gold coin is on the second level in a room at the opposite end of the volcano. The dollar bill (from what I remember) is on the 3rd level. You have to go past the door that opens weird (it seems like it won't open, but it does). It's past that room and the closet. Look around up there for something "secret". That will help you get out because that leads you to a place that will let you out.
