You need to go down several paths which get him closer to admitting his fear, and then you'll find a new option opens up on one specific path (by examining him, you'll see how close he is to this point.) If you end the interview early, you'll lose any progress you made toward obtaining this option, even though it won't be readily apparent. So the next time you do the interview, stick with it until you finish.
