question about MR monster intelligence

Do the monsters in Murkon's Refuge have any level of intelligence? For instance, if you have a party that is highly resistant to fire and you run into a rock dragon, if the rock dragon breathes fire and sees that it does very little damage to your party, will it subsequently breath frost or poison instead or are monster attacks the result of random selection?
