Yes and no.

Senior proms, probably not worth it. It's not the end all of life, it's overplayed, a waste of time unless there's someone you really want to be with. Dancing however, is wonderful. If you had ever danced at a ball, danced waltzes, reels, polkas, or tried out swing dancing, you'd have an entirely different attitude about dancing. Not knowing how well enough is no excuse. It's enjoyable simply for what it is. It doesn't have to be romantic. It doesn't even have to be an obligitory social event. There's a lot less pressure and its a lot more enjoyable when it's just something you can do for fun.

Don't go to this event if you don't feel like it. But you'll be doing yourself a diservice not to participate in any real dancing at some point in your life. I don't know if I'd call it a hobby, but it's just an activity that's just a lot of fun.
