Is it merely a government-sponsored facade to make those of us who don't go (i.e., everybody) feel like we missed something important? I find it odd that no one here has been or even cares. My parents tell me that they went, but then again, we have no witnesses and they're probably getting a hefty paycheck from Uncle Sam for feeding me these lies. High school life is cruel that way.

Well, I went and my date and I had a pretty good time. We were able to keep the costs low and had fun fraternizing with our other friends that came and danced quite a bit. It was more fun than it was awkward, but it wasn't very memorable and I wouldn't have really lost anything (other than irking the sweet girl that had pulled me out of my shell during our two years together in the school newspaper, but I'll probably never see her till the reunion since we've gone our separate ways) by missing it. All in all, a good analogy for High School in general.
