Depends on what you actually kill. In this scenario:
Bloog attacks an Ugly Ogre and hits for 7 damage! The Ugly Ogre dies! Gorb casts METAMORPH. The Ugly Ogres turn into Kobolds! Spork casts FLAMES. The Kobold is burnt for 17 damage! The Kobold dies! The Kobold is scorched for 16 damage! The Kobold dies!
In the above, you get experience for one ugly ogre and two kobolds.
METAMORPH, since it turns monsters into weaker monsters when it works (a low IQ will make it fail more often and conjure up *harder* monsters instead), is generally only used as a last resort. You don't want to gyp yourself the experience points if you can beat the monsters as they are.
