GOA Need the Ring, have picture

Clear Focus Stone

It seems that no one else has had the problem I have...I need the Magnifying Glass so that the Smith can forge a ring for me. The cartographer is too busy using it, and there's no option to steal it. I don't know how to wait until he's ready. What am I doing wrong?!?
