A recycled subject line

I really liked that subject line that said "Some people really need to get a hobby." Before I read the posts, I was agreeing with the subject line. Hobbies are for people who are looking for things to do. A hobby might have been a good thing for those litigants* who keep thinking up wierd lawsuits.

I have hobbies that keep me out of trouble. This is gardening season and raising food on our vacant lot is good exercise, saves money and provides fresh vegetables. Good hobby.

Then there is my coin collection. I started it when I was a kid (1947) and still have most of it. You would think it would be valuable, but if I had taken the same money and invested it in government bonds, I'd be $$$ ahead of where I am now. Fortunately, I think of coins as art. That's why I have so many from Central and South America where the world's most beautiful coins are made.

I also collect beautiful old vintage motor scooters. I have ten trophies. I love showing them off and I have countless pictures posted on the net. I added about 70 this week. No, I don't ride them very much, but I enjoy it when I do. I guess it keeps me out of trouble.

My most recent collection is De-Liars. I now have 15 of these little fisherman scale and tape measure combos. I might not get many more, because the prices are going up fast on eBay.

I guess eBay is another hobby (sort of). I sell antiques, especially old fishing tackle and use the money to support my other hobbies.

I also take pictures as a hobby. My favorite subjects include quilts, barns, cabins, churches and, of course, scooters. I like old country churches and falling down barns. Cabins have to be rustic, and it helps if they are built of logs. About the only people I photograph are grandchildren and I never have far to go to find those. I like a digital camera because I don't have to fumble around with film.

Well, I think I hear my garden calling.
Howard

*I never use that word, so I'm sure I didn't spell it right.
