I agree with you and Mousie. So does that make the three of us biggots? I don't think so. I've never felt guilty about my ancestors who held slaves. I had other ancestors who were abolitionist. I don't take credit for anything they did, and I won't accept blame for their doings either. I had an ancestor who stole horses, but I'm not about to replace the horses. Some of my ancestors raised tobacco that probably killed people. Do I owe their descendents an apology? If my great, great, great grandfather had left all of the profits from his plantation in Virgina to me, and if any of the slaves he exploited were still alive, I might feel that I owed them something.

I wonder if I could sue the Feds because Union troops burned my great great grandmother's house?
A lot of family history went up in smoke. In her diary, that she took with her, my great great grandmother told how they excaped the Yankees only because the slaves that they had freed stayed around and helped them get away up into the mountains.
