I agree with a lot of what you said, BG. Although I wasn't here in the 'glory days' of the RinkForum, I agree that it has degraded from the few snippets I've seen of said 'glory days'.

I also agree that we're the only people who can change that. No Amazing Post God is going to descend from On High and provide us with witty, thought-provoking posts. We have to do it.

Part of the reason I've been hesitant to post new topics is that several times it has died with someone posting "we did this already" with a link to a 2-year old forum thread. And that's the end of that! Which makes me wonder... why must that be the end of that? There are new people here who have yet to contribute, perhaps changed opinions on whatever the issue is... now, if the topic's been legitimately done to death about 2-3 times before, or done quite recently, that I understand. We don't want much more of that, especially if the topic itself seems prone to inanity.

But in other cases, the revisiting of 'old' ideas can certainly be good. I'm not accusing anyone of trying to stifle discussion by doing that, or whatever. Just stating a fact that bothered me in the past. :)

I'll do my best to post something interesting after my one class today. Thanks, BG.
