Yea, that kinda bugs me. I study social science. Psychology, sociology, all sorts of interesting (Right!) introduction class.

Anyway, one of the part my Intro. Psych teacher was very insistent about was on test subject in experiments - If we're using human subject, we have to preserve their physical and psychological integrity at any cost, unless it is deemed necessary for science (IE, that experiment with the simulated electroshocks... I keep forgetting the name), and when it is done, you have to insure the subject get whatever treatement they need. (Physical integrity isn't even something you'd consider touching)

So anyway, that test, albeit not a controlled experiment, directly attack dignity (You're not normal.) for no reasons at all. It's just not a good thing. (A depressive person just don't need to get told that they're not normal, on top of what they might endure)
