Dave, have you ever read, or heard of, one of Lewis' later works, titled _Til We Have Faces_? It's a re-working of the myth of Cupid and Psyche, set in a medieval, Anglo-Saxon kingdom called Glome, which recalls the Denmark of Shakespeare's _Macbeth_. I greatly enjoyed this novel, which is written from the perspective of Psyche's eldest sister. Somewhat like _Macbeth_, it focuses on the gradual, almost unconscious corrupting influence of power and inward anger on the main character's personality. In places, the novel is quite moving, and of course Lewis' knack for turning a phrase, and for understanding the motivations of the human heart, permeates the book. I recommend it to any Lewis reader.
