Story Hunt: Duke of Gloom, Chap 4

Having seen the "October" hint, I went over to the Rinkworks Timeline, to no avail, since not much has happened in Octobers, and then I noticed the "second place" hint, so I started pawing through the Readers Poll archives, looking at all the polls that took place in October. Nope. Could someone give me a push?
