She's been good to me. And she is my first car, after all. Sentimental value and all that.

A lot of people around here have already heard it, but I'll tell it again.

I was driving to the Kentucky State Fair. It was my first time driving a stick shift outside of my neighborhood, but miraculously, the accident had nothing to do with that. Everything went fine until I had to park. Since it was Saturday and the fairgrounds was packed, I had to park in the grass overflow lot, and it was close quarters, especially since I had someone tailgating me.

So I was trying to pull past this car in order to get into the "space" in front of the space beside it. And I'm maneuvering to the best of my ability, cutting my wheel, cutting my wheel, oh looks like I've got it ...

... and the little girl in the car I was pulling past FLUNG her door open right in front of me. I couldn't stop and I hit it. At first I thought I'd hit the girl. I was crying before I was even out of the car. But I didn't hit her and the door wasn't that badly damaged, and neither was Ruby. So even though the people changed their story later and told the insurance company that I just drove into an already open door (sure, THAT makes sense), it wasn't that bad.
