My brother and I both have Lancia Betas. Mine is called Revvie. The Numberplate is LPR, which in my book stands for Little People's Revolution, both from Les Mis, and because the car is *tiny* (it has back seats, but we're not sure why they bothered). LPR gets shortened to Revvie. Again, pun, the car has a lot of get-up-and-go, for a 1984, power nothing (except it has an electronic dipstick-go figure), super running bit of aluminium. And really great handling.

When mum owned the car, it was called Arby, as in RB, Rust Bucket. But most of our cars derive there names from their naem: Landie, Pug, and Tug (Numberplate TUG).

But back to my brother's car. Lancia is an Italian make. So it's called Mambo Italiano. His best friend has a Tarana: it's The Banana, another has a Monaro, it's the "Maaate" (ethnic joke about the 'usual' owners of Monaros). All his friends have named their cars. My friends also have Grannie (a Kingswood), Faded Glory (a 198- BMW 3 series) and Pricey (a Beetle that cost $200, but hasn't needed a service in 5 years).
Oh, and when my boyfriend bought a Beetle, and I had the Lancia, he had to name it Herbie.

sam"another good reason for naming my car Revvie, is that I then have to explain the story, and I love to talk"hael
