How about another question. Did you know that the kitchen countertop bread machine (along with the automatic rice-cooker) were invented in Japan -- but only because, culturally, it was never acceptable to serve certain foods unless they're piping-hot fresh? Eh.

Over the holidays, my Dave discovered that using our bread machine to make Italian panettone (a sweet bread containing raisins and candied citrus peel) was waaaaaay better than buying it at the store. Absolutely spanking, DEE-lish yummy.
