Taberner House (my local town hall) used to arrange which office lights got left on over night so that one side of the building showed a christmas tree, and the other side a cross.

No-one complained about the christmas tree, but the Muslim community complained about the display of the cross (a Christian symbol) being so prominantly displayed by a government body.

The United Kingdom is still, technically, a Christian country. It's a Christian celebration, Croydon's coat of arms is made up of several Christian symbols. And the national flag is made up of the symbols of three saints. But none of that is worth complaining about.
