Having read all of your excellent theories, I have come to the conclusion that these shoes are haunted, anthrax-riddled, uncomfortable, unfashionable vomit targets used in a crime, which were owned by a spoiled rich 14-year-old mad terrorist who had just seriously offended his wife. I have therefore decided to keep them, because of the novelty value.
