I think the class under discussion here is syllologism (Spelling may well be wrong)

The classic example would be:

All dogs have four legs.
My cat has four legs.
Therefore, my cat is a dog.

There was another version of this called "the Politician's syllologism" which ran:

We must do something.
This is something.
Therefore, we must do this.

And I remember coming across this once:

All syllologisms have three parts.
Therefore, this is a syllologism.
