What if just a glimpse of someone could show us that person's weaknesses and strengths, his insecurities and self-assurances, his fears and his mettle?

If this were the case, I think everyone would be a lot more self-concious. There would be some people who would shun the light of day, never to be seen by another human. Even the "best" people. As someone I know often says, "we all carry around our own back of rocks." I don't know about you, but I think that if I knew that by stepping outside my door I'd be exposing all my faults and foibles to the world in intimate detail, I'd be inclined to stay indoors.

I don't see how this would benefit the world. I think we'd all be too busy noticing other's faults to take much notice of the good things about the people around us.
