> My sleep schedule is messed up. I'm almost nocturnal. I sleep most of the day and I'm up all night. I've explained to my parents why my computer is not what's keeping me up at night, but, being parents, they completly ignore fact and tell me to go to bed anyway. And yes, I know, every kid hates going to bed. Just, normally they don't have a valid reason, and if they continue to stay up all night, it'll interfere with school, and one day work. I do homeschool, so I get to set the schedule, and the kind of job I'm going to have whenever I get one is preferably going to be during night anyway.
> Regardless of what I say, I'm not allowed to do something productive. Instead, I just lay in bed for hours, not able to sleep because I'm not tired. There's a lot of stuff that needs to be done. Our fileserver box needs to have an operating system installed on it, I can do that. People need help on the forums, I can help them. But instead I get sent to bed. So here I am, posting a completely useless message at 4 AM that'll probably get deleted.

You may think your parents are being mean and cruel and not understanding your position at all, and maybe they are. I felt the same way when, a few months ago, my parents put a stop to my staying up past 11:00 p.m. I would stay up past 4:30 a.m. sometimes, and I would sleep through the day. Finally, for the first time in my LIFE, my parents gave me a curfew, which was to be off the computer at 11:00. Now, sometimes, I don't always make it, but I try. Why? They rarely check to make sure I'm off the computer, so I COULD stay up if I wanted. But I do it because they are my parents, and they probably know best.

I didn't always feel like this. It really sucked, at least at first, and sometimes, it still does, like when I am not tired and I am having a really good discussion with someone, either in chat or over AIM. But they had MY best interests in mind, as I'm sure your parents have YOUR best interests in mind.

I know that doesn't really change the fact that you are not tired, but when you go to bed at night, you could try setting your alarm clock for a decent hour, MAKE yourself get up at that time, and then not sleep until the next night. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.
