Although listed last, the "right to impose morals" part is the most important reason why we, as an independent nation, should not get involved in another nation's internal conflicts without being asked to assist.

In the scenario that Stephen gave us -- removing the Taliban from power -- that would also result in terrorist strikes against the United States (and Israel, just because).
