The Hunger Site is up again

The Hunger Site is a stroke of genious. Go to their site and click a button to donate a cup of staple food to someone who needs it. That's all there is to it, no strings attached. (If you'd like to know more about how it all works, you can read about it on the site.)

Not long ago, The Hunger Site was mentioned in chat, and I discovered that I hadn't been there for a long time. When we tried to go there, we found it was down. A quick search revealed the sad truth: It was taken down due to lack of funding.

Now, however, there are new owners, and the site is back up!

I signed up to be notified when they returned, and yesterday, I got this mail:

-------------------------
Hello!

With new owners who strongly believe in the power of online activism, The Hunger Site is back, ready to help millions of hungry people worldwide. The rest is up to you -- please come back and click on the "Give Free Food" button at http://www.thehungersite.com .

We need your help to return to our previous level of giving. Historically, visitors to The Hunger Site generated over 4 million cups of staple food a month. Please take a minute and forward this email on to your friends and family, asking them to participate in this fast, free and easy effort to end starvation.

An estimated 800 million individuals worldwide -- children, mothers, fathers, grandparents -- simply don't get enough to eat. Approximately 24,000 will die today. 75% of them are children. The Hunger Site is a proven way to make a difference. Click today and every day!

Thanks for your support and concern.

Sincerely,

The Hunger Site Staff

I hope you'll forgive me for posting this here -- I have nothing to gain from it personally, I just happen to believe it's a worthy cause in which everyone with Internet access should participate. There are also a few companion sites; The Breast Cancer Site and (coming soon:) The Rainforest Site, also worthy causes.

Go -- click -- donate free food -- and make a habit of it!
