I don't remember what the problem was, but she was determined that she was right and I was wrong. Finally she decided to strike fear in my heart by threatening to go to the superintendent. She said she was going to march right down and tell Mr. Headlee all about it. So I said that that was just the thing for her to do. I told her that Mr. Headlee would be glad to discuss it with her. So she marched out. Of course, I was teaching in the city system and Mr. Headlee was the county superintendent. The city superintendent was Mr. Duff. I never heard from her again.

Mr. Headlee? Mr. Duff? Those are the oddest names I've ever heard of! And on two superintendents?! They must have been seriously picked on my the kids in the school. Most kids will take relatively little and make it funny, but that's almost too easy...
