This post really belongs in the thread about the little things, but I can't find it.

Today Mike and I went to the gym. After an hour of exercise,I changed into my bathing suit and got into the jacuzzi with Mike.

I was feeling rather frumpy in my tight little suit, and my face was a bright firey red from my earlier exertion. My hair was frazzled and I felt very bulgy and ugly.

I noticed a woman watching us, but didn't think much of it. I clammered out of the jacuzzi in a very ungraceful manner, since there aren't proper steps leading out of the water. Then I entered the steam room, and tried to cover my thighs with a towel.

Mike joined me a few minutes later. He said that the woman had remarked to him that I was very pretty.

"Really??" I said, befuddled.
"Yeah, she said you look noble. She told me she could imagine you wearing one of those 'Gone With The Wind'-type gowns."

I couldn't believe it. It's always nice to be complimented, but when I'm at the gym, I feel the *opposite* of noble and beautiful. Especially when swathed in Lycra and dripping with sweat and chlorinated water. Bleah.

Anyway, it's nice to be told you look good when you *know* you do, but at that moment, it was totally unexpected. Wow.
