classes relevant to my major (Art with an

(Creative Writing).

Ah, I remember when I reached that point in
my college education. And it was at the start of
my junior year too. I changed my major at the
beginning of that year, from commercial art
(emphasis on illustration) to graphic design
(emphasis on...well, design), and finally
declared a minor (advertising).

Because I switched majors, there were a few
classes I had to "go back" and take, but they
were actually lower-level courses that were
(somewhat) relevant to my course of study.
Yearbook production, for example. And
photography. Oooh, photography. I liked it so
much I went on to take Photography II as an
elective even though it wasn't required.

I'm like you...I enjoyed most all of my classes,
even the ones that weren't relevant to my
chosen profession. The notable exception
was the one math class I was required to
take, but I took the most basic class they
offered, knowing that I could breeze through it
without having to concentrate too hard on it.
That way that one required math course didn't
damage my grade point average.

I think some of my favorite non-major classes
were: History of Civilization; American &
English Lit; Speech (this surprised me), and
Sailing.
