To my East and Northeast, we have mountains. The surrounding sky was grey, dark and cloudy. In front of the grey clouds, was the most glorius rainbow, just gorgeous, taking up quite a bit of the eastern skyscape. On that side of the sky, BLUE lightening was striking every few minutes. To the South-west and west, the sky was just blue as blue could be. To the Northwest, the sun was setting, and the entire sky was vividly yellow. Anyone of these sights is beautiful on it's own, but the constrast just made it so much more amazing.

I saw almost the same thing while driving to Georgia last night. There were lightning bolts on my left and a red-orange-pink-purble sunset on my right. It was the right conditions for a rainbow, but I didn't see one. I thought you must live near Chattanooga until I realized that you said you saw that a few weeks ago.
