I can understand that. I liked your sign-off quote.

If I read Xanth when I was, say, seven, I would have enjoyed the stories and the treatment of women *might* have gone over my head. I'm sure I would have loved those books then.

It's a bit of a quandary... I really am enjoying the story, and Mike, who has the first six Xanth books, says they are all pretty decent. But it really gets my back up when I read a line like "Why don't you marry her? Then she can serve you for a lifetime!" (beginning of third book). Maybe I should just get over it. :-p

Or maybe I'll go re-read "Orlando." :)
