I don't have much time this morning but wanted to reply anyway. This will just be a little short.

You have a total right to be scared. College is scary. Living away from home is scary. The unfamiliar is scary. Don't be too hard on your dad. I'm guessing he's pretty scared too, even if he doesn't seem like it.

Last year was my first year at college, and yes, I was scared. I was in a forced triple and all three of us had way too much stuff for that small double room. My roommates both thought the universe revolved around them. I was very unhappy with the whole situation for various reasons, and it didn't help that I missed my family. Second semester I was able to change rooms and lived with a senior who was so very nice, and we got along well.

The point of the story is that even though I was really quite miserable, I survived, and when things got better I found I was stronger because of what I went through. Your situation may be much better or much worse than mine was. But you *will* survive. I know that seems obvious now, but you may have to hold on to that as you deal with being on your own.
