I wish I'd been more caught up on the Forum; many of my nominees have been taken. Here are three that I haven't seen mentioned, though.

The Spanish-language (with Subtitle Curse) film "Guantanamera" is really excellent; on the surface, it's a funny road movie with a nice little romance on the side, but it's also a satire of life in Fidel Castro's Cuba. Castro thought the film was great until he realized what it was subtly saying about his regime, at which point it was summarily banned.

Oh, and two oft-neglected comedies: "Clue" (1985) is based on the board game, yes, but the writing is excellent. Funny, funny movie, and the singing telegram girl bit is priceless. "Scavenger Hunt" (1979) is a cult favorite in my family, even if there seems to be some violent hatred for it on the IMDB. It's just a silly good time.
