Where the good stuff is

The food is always great in California. While there, I enjoyed Mexican, Italian, and Chinese. Couple that with no exercise due to the bum knee and I gained four pounds.
We left for home yesterday morning via cigar plane to LAX. Again a delicious view. We flew at about 6000 feet alongside the crest of the Santa Monica Moutains. The fire at Thousand Oaks was out. (I forgot to mention that we saw a big brush fire on the way in to Oxnard. Very scary from the air.) We were so close to the mountains I was able to see hiking trails, roads, firebreaks, houses and even a motor scooter parked in a driveway. People build fantastic houses right on the crest.
At LAX we got on a 747 Jumbo jet headed for Dulles airport near Washington, D.C. The plane was lightly loaded and they put us in Business Class. If First Class is any better than that, I can't imagine how. Big wide seats with adjustable foot rests and head rests, multi-channel TV for each seat, table cloth for your tray and so much space between seats, we had three windows! I had to unfasten my seat belt to reach the seat pocket. The little TV, which swings up out of the center arm rest, had a choice of four movies, and a map program to constantly keep you informed as to speed, altitude, ETA, and position. There were some other news and entertainment channels. You also get a place to plug in your laptop for power and a laptop compatible telephone. Somehow, I managed to look out the window a lot. I saw dry lake beds in the desert, and on the way into Dulles, I got a close look at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. West Virginia is abut 92% trees when you look at it from the air. The two-hour flight back to Knoxville in another cigar plane was uneventful. We landed about 7:15 p.M. and were home by eight o'clock.
Next stop, Myrtle Beach. Leaving Sunday. Can't wait!
