Just for the record (it's appeared in other posts), my Rinkworks nickname has a long and varied history. It was the name of the famous British king, of course, and the name of the Duke of Wellington who defeated Napoleon, so I picked it for its historical resonances. I also liked it because it was the name of Arthur Dent in HHGttG, one of my favorite books (and one of my favorite characters; gotta love his slightly bemused culture shock in the face of all that insanity), the name of the sentient AI virus who lives in your suit in the Journeyman Project (he makes wisecracks, he gives obscure hints and he even sacrifices himself to save the day at the end; who wouldn't want to be him?), the name of that aardvark kid on PBS (though I think I'm more a combination of Arthur, Buster, and the Brain), the name of Paul Simon's partner, the name of the original host of Kids Say the Darnedest Things, the name of a famous African-American runner, the name of Frasier's dad's best friend, etc., etc., etc.

It's a name just chock-full of pop-culture goodness, and that's why, after much thought, I was forced to choose it over a cool Orcish name, like, I don't know, Snaga, or Azog.

Of course I totally left out the cool fact that the name Arthur happens to be on my birth certificate, too, which kind of clinched things.

Ar"aren't those coincidences weird?"thur
