Because a whole lot of California is the same way, at least in my experience. :) Desert weather isn't very changeable, the central valley is fairly stable weather-wise, and here (SF Bay Area) is much the same.

Florida weather is VERY changeable. When I was there last November, we got there on a sunny morning. By evening it had gone from clear to thunderstorming and back to clear not once but TWICE (and, since we were at Disney World, we went on the inside rides then). The next day was full of TORRENTIAL rain (thank YOU, weather, for raiing like CRAZY when I was at Epcot, aka the best park ever IMO, and forcing me into a sticky ol' yellow Mickey Mouse parka!), and the day after that was gorgeous all day long. Very weird, and rather frustrating when one is at Disney World and wants nicer weather. ;)

Okay, I can't beat that, but I can say that in Holland, rain can sneak up at you on any moment and sometimes comes with incredible ferocity. I remember one time when it was clear when I left school and 10 minutes later, when I got dropped off, it was POURING, and then 10 minutes afterward was the most incredible thunderstorm I have EVER seen (and I've been through a hurricane, once). This thing was amazing... a lightning bolt hit a house 4 down from ours so strongly that it blew everything electrical in the house and made little bolts come out of the sockets. O_o (I believe I was hiding in the basement during the entire thing!)
