Actually, I lied. This is the difference between a sport and a game:

A sport is something you play regularly. As in, "Baseball, one of our traditional American pastimes, is a sport."

A game is one instance of people playing a sport. As in, "There was a game of baseball last night between the Angels and the Dodgers."

There. Confusion all settled. Everything nice now? :)
