I didn't even need to follow your link, because I KNOW that one immediately. I have watched it on AdCritic SO MANY times, and I STILL laugh out loud every time I see it. That commerical is a true slapstick, absurd classic.

Since I'm posting on this thread, I have to tell you about the best commercial I ever remember seeing. I only saw it once, but me and the other guy who saw it actually watched that same station just to see the commerical again-- we went to the bathroom DURING THE SHOW so we wouldn't miss any commercials, just in case.

The commercial was a Hewlett-Packard commercial, for some new printer. There is a voice-over guy who describes what the printer can do, and goes on and on about its great features. At what SEEMS to be the end of the commercial, he finishes with "Well, it can do pretty much everything but... Mow the lawn!" Cut to a shot of a group of engineers. They look at each other. Cut to a shot of a box of parts being dumped on a table. You see the engineers tinkering for a bit, then get a shot of a computer monitor with a Windows-style interface. They select from one of the menus a new option: "Mow..." Cut to (and this scene is indescribably funny-- I won't do it justice here) a shot of the printer, with its full undercarrieage setup (so it sits about four feet tall) on wheels, bumping jerkily across a lawn, with grass flying out of the paper tray at the top. The catch-line at the end of the commercial (done in voice over and onscreen text) is "Hewlett Packard. Built by engineers... Used by normal people."

I was in tears after that one. And I never saw it again. That is probably a good thing-- I am sure that seeing it multiple times would remove some of the mystique and make it less funny. But I can still bring a smile to my face remembering that ad... And that's my story.

Don "I get WAY too into commercials" Monkey
